The PM2 Dog Agility Team competes in dog agility trials all year long. Most of the time they are in Southern California, but several times a year they travel out of state to compete or demo their skills. They are proud canine ambassadors for the Active Care line of dog food by Breeder’s Choice (www.breeders-choice.com), I Love Dogs vitamin and supplements and for I Love Dog Diamonds (www.ilovedogs.com).
PM2 stands for PJ, Mojo and Magi (1 P and 2 M’s) the first 3 dogs on the team. The team has grown and for 2010 our canine members include: PJpupp (Harpur) – an 11 year oldBorder Collie, Mojo (Williams) – a 12 year old Sheltie/ Chow mix, Magi (Williams) – an 8 year old Border Collie/ Golden Retriever mix, Perry (Millman) – an 11 year old Shetland Sheepdog, Mushu (Hu) – a 7 year old Chihuahua/ Basenji mix, Gigi (Harpur) – a 7 year old Rat Terrier, Rickie Roo (Harpur) – a 2 year old Rat Terrier, Chili Dog (Matsuo – Harpur) - a 2 year old Rat Terrier, Gidget (Millman -Harpur) a 2 year old Shetland Sheepdog, Abbie (Harpur) – a 4year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Kokomo (Williams) – a 2 year old Wonder Dog (wonder what it is), Mason (Pelzman) – a 6 year old Maltese, Aimee (Winter – Gonzales) - a 4 year old French Bulldog and Hobo (Harpur) a 3 year old shepherd mix)
Team Captain and team founder Deborah Davidson Harpur takes the dogs to compete almost every weekend all year long at AKC, USDAA, CPE, NADAC, ASCA or some other dog agility event. She handles all of the dogs on the team and enjoys running with both big dogs and small dogs, fast dogs and even the slower dogs too!
Co-founder Carla Duke Williams attends as many events as she can. Being a busy mom of a very busy 5 year old (Kylie) sometimes makes it hard to come to trials. But when she does she will run with Mojo, Magi and sometimes Gigi and PJpupp. Jr. Handler Mei Matuso joined the team in 2009 and has competed with Gigi, Magi, Mojo, Kokomo, Mason, Perry and Chili Dog.
Dog owners George and Jeanie Pelzman, Barbara Millman, Meredyth Matsuo, Les Winter and Vince Gonzales are often at the events to support their dogs and to make sure Deborah has the right dog in the right ring. Other people you may see in the crating area at a trial might be Ruth Duke (Carla’s mom), Kylie and Jay Williams (Carlas husband and daughter), Gabrielle Beaubrun with her Tibetan Spaniels Bogey and Lacey Jane and frequent USDAA teammates Robert Moray with Aussies Miko and Cheers, Fran Soloman with Aussie Gracie, Kristen and Madison Cumby with Smooth Collie Target and Shetland Sheepdog Callie. If you are lucky you might meet Barbie, Rickie Roo’s breeder too.The PM2 Crating area is always full of people and dogs. We always have a great time.
In addition to our busy agility schedule, the PM2 dogs take on outside work as doggie models and actors and often do community service events like library programs and agility demos for different charity events. The dogs are regular bloggers for www.tj.la and Rickie Roo is a Roving Reporter for the United Dog Agility Association’s website.
All of the dogs love to compete and to play. They are best buddies and if they are not at a show they are often spending time together anyway. It is always fun to see who will do what in the ring and even more fun when we earn fancy ribbons and titles.
We have several older dogs and lots of newer dogs. It’s so much fun to see them learn and so sad to see our old dogs slowing down. We love our dogs so much and they love us.
